Aidan Coffey : Mc Dermot’s

Chords (part a, bar 4).
When you're playing the tune for the second or third time the chords at this position can have a nice effect. The sequence is B/G, A/F#, G#/F, B/G, A/F#, (instead of B, A,G#, B, A). Play them with fingers 3 and 4. Slide to the outside row for the G#/F pair.

Variation 1
Variation 2
Insertion of fast triplets (part b, bar 1/ bar 5).The opening bar of part B. has room for some triplets. These are ADA instead of a plain A quaver. It gives an old-time melodeon type effect. The basic tune is F#G AF#DF#AF#DF#AF#DF#A… The variation is F#G [ADA] F#D F# [ADA] F# D F# [ADA] F# D F# A…I’ve put it into this recording at the second playing of part B the first time round. Practise it to get the triplets to fit into the value of the quaver.
