Kieran Hanrahan: Crowley's Reel

This is where we use a D drone effect under the opening sequence of the tune, usually the second time around. It is important to note that I use this effect only where the D note comes on a Down stroke. In other words the notation is
A A A D' B B B, starting on a downstroke. When I play the variation I drop the third A and play the low D.
A A D D' B B B. The first A is down the second up the D is down.
This variation is used a lot when playing tunes in the key of D.

Variation 1
Variation 2
For this variation to work you must use the basic technique of playing up and down . It occurs in Bar 9.(second time around)
The notation played simply is F'* F'* F'* A' G' G'
The new notation is………….F* F'* F'* G G' G'
Please note that the first F(sharp) in the high register is replaced by F(sharp) in the low register.
Also the A in the high register is replaced by a low G.
