Kevin Glackin: Bobby Casey's Reel

At this stage you should be confident of the basic playing the basic melody. Unfortunately at this stage a lot of students get over confident and try play the tune at a lot faster pace that they are able. This is one of the great pitfalls in learning Irish music. At this stage you should be concentrating on rhythm ,phrasing, and tuning . Remember each note is of equal importance and must get the same value except where the value
of the note is extended. Try incorporate the ornamentation but remember dont rush it. Badly executed ornamentation sounds terrible and its better to leave it out. Developing good technique requires a lot of time and practice but it is well worth the effort.
