Eoin O Riabhaigh: Saddle the Pony

This is a nice little variation that merely replaces the standard
G (sustained) BAF#D with a more arpeggio based GBD AF#D. It’s great how such a small change in a phrase can add so much to the feel of a tune. It will become apparent to you as you move through your musical career, that it’s really these little additions and subtractions that we call variations and ornamentation that distinguishes very good players from masters of their trade – it’s called interpretation.

Variation 2

This is a simple little variation where I replace a normal E’ roll or a double E’ note with an E’BE’ movement. This affords a nice opportunity to maybe include a little staccato or tight piping by closing the chanter for an instant between the E’ and B and B and following E’.
